The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two prime accused, including the ‘mastermind’ in connection with the blast that took place in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Café on March 1, 2024. They were absconding and arrested from their hideout near Kolkata in West Bengal.
According to the NIA, the accused have been identified as Mussavir Hussain Shazib who placed the IED at the café and Abdul Matheen Taha was the mastermind as he was involved in planning and executing the blast. Both the accused are residents from the Thirthahalli area in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district.
The anti-terror agency, on March 29, released some images captured by CCTV cameras and details of the accused and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on providing information about the terrorists. They also said that Shazib was using the name ‘Mohammed Juned Sayed’ under a fake identity. Both of them have been in the ‘wanted’ list since one of a 2020 terrorist cases.
The blast injured at least nine people at Rameshwaram Café located in the city’s Whitefield area. Following the incident, the Karnataka police identified a suspect who used an IED device to carry out the explosion.
